The SPH team recently met with Luigi Paoloni, Export Manager at FBT Head Office in Italy, who recently flew in to Joburg for Mediatech 2011 and managed to spend some time with us. We treated Luigi to a good ‘ole fashioned South African steak at the Butcher’s Grill in Sandton, needless to say we all walked away with very full tummies and big smiles! During the month of July, 90.6FM Radio will be hosting a Soup Drive at a different venue each weekend with their Outside Broadcast Unit and will be providing music and a fun vibe while reaching out to the less fortunate members of the various communities in the Vaal Triangle Area. An estimate of 2000 people will be reached through this project, Synergy Production House is a proud sponsor and partner of the 2011 Soup Drive.
It has been quite some time since we’ve been in touch and much has changed since our last bog post…
On the staff front, it was with sadness that we said farewell to Paul Rupert van Zyl, our Operations Manager at SPH who had made a decision to relocate to Joburg after becoming engaged and to pursue other interests closer to home. We wish him well with his new adventure, he will be missed but will definitely be seen as he continues his involvement in the local band, Spritz Boulevard and local band Wake to Wonder who have subsequently
We too have faced a couple of challenges and changes during the economic recession but have continued to grow and even expand into new areas. There are exciting new developments and plans on the cards for Synergy Sound and Synergy Production House for mid year, we’ll share them with you closer to the time so watch this space for more details

Hooray it’s Spring! We’re welcoming the warm weather and the budding blossoms while waving a cheerful good bye to the Winter Blues. Not only has Mother Nature awoken from her wintery sleep but it seems the city has come alive too, September is as always packed with events, we thought we’d give you a peek at some of the things we’ve been up to since our last blog ..
Retief Burger live at Impact Church - What a privilege it was for SPH to be involved in yet another true worship event. It has always been a desire for the team at SPH to be a part of Gospel Events where the concert is centered around true worship and not stage performance. Retief Burger and his band reflected the meaning of true worship in an afternoon to evening praise & worship concert where the presence of God was tangibly felt. Retief Burger a renowned songwriter and worship leader best known for his popular CD ‘Luidkeels’ was hosted by Impact Church Vereeniging, the outdoor Gospel Concert was supported by the members of the local church and the community.

The Parlotones give back - SAMA Award winning band, The Parlotones rocked the house at DF Malherbe much to the delight of the Primary School’s students, teachers and a couple of parents. The group who have a collection of Number 1 hits under their belt, had the kids screaming, dancing, jumping and singing along. It was amaizing to see how these young kids reacted, the school hall was lit with cell phones of every kind, 6 and 7 year olds were singing the songs word for word. After the concert, the students were able to meet the band and have their favourite CD’s personally autographed, a truly once in a lifetime moment for them. The Parlotones who normally command a large fee for their live performances, chose to contribute towards the Grade 7′s fundraising event for the Primary School by waivered the fee. SPH was amongst the generous sponsors supplying the professional audio system and lighting in the school hall. Event was featured in this week’s Vaalweekblad newspaper – see page 12! The Parlotones give back
Spring Beer Festival 2010 - Clear skies, warm sunshine and a stage line-up of SA’s Top Bands on the banks of the Vaal River … what more can you ask for in celebration of the start of Spring? It was a day and night of prime family entertainment with Prime Circle, Just Jinjer, aKing, Changing Face, Spitz Boulevard and Wake to Wonder on stage. The festival offered loads of complimentary children’s entertainment, with well-priced food and sweet stalls and of course a Beer garden all set on the picturesque banks of the Vaal River. ‘All in all it was an amazing experience and I would recommend not missing the festival next year’ – Jacques Steenkamp, Journalist for Mooi Vaal Media. Networking with the Chinese and Italians. We’re constantly looking at ways to increase our knowledge and equipment to stay current with new technology in the sound and lighting industry. During the month of March, Willie embarked on a trip to China to attend the annual Guangzhou International Pro Sound & Light Exhibition. With over 512 exhibitors, it became quite a daunting task finding reliable suppliers but after 2 days, Willie managed to find a couple of LED lighting suppliers & visited their various factories. Noticeably at the Expo, it was clear that the lighting industry is moving towards LED technology as the way of the future for lighting equipment. LED (light-emitting diode) parcans are becoming more and more popular and are replacing traditional parcans as they are lightweight, use less power, last longer and produce no heat compared to traditional parcans. LED’s have a range of applications and are bound to cut the cost of lighting equipment in the near future, watch this space for more details …

Italians are renowned for producing products that combine style, function and quality, Willie discovered this to be true on a recent trip to FBT Italy with a view to visit their factory. FBT designs and manufactures professional audio products with the aim of constantly improving sound quality. Their factory is a production chain, a research and design lab and a hub housing the electronics team, the plastic moulding division, the carpentry & mechanical workshop, paint shop and test department. When asked to describe the highlight of the trip, Willie said “Seeing the factory and meeting the guys was great but the FBT Mitus linearray demo was awesome!” Since the trip to FBT, SPH & Synergy Sound endorses and highly recommends the FBT range of products, watch this space for exciting developments coming soon.

Synergy gives back! 90.6 FM is running a community outreach programme this July with four ‘Soup Spots’ planned at different locations in the Vaal Area providing a meal to 1000 unprivileged people. SPH was honoured to be given an opportunity to give back and donated soup ingredients (including 10kgs of Oxtail soup powder) needed for the soup kitchens. Listen out for more info on the Soup Spots by tuning-in to the Vaal Community’s Radio station on 90.6FM
